Ripken Baseball & FIELDS Partner with Chevrolet in Third Annual “Diamonds & Dreams” Field Renovation Program

FIELDS and Ripken Baseball to help renovate 12 community baseball fields throughout the country in 2012.

Baltimore, MD – Ripken Baseball and FIELDS today announced they have been selected for the third consecutive year to participate in Chevrolet’s “Diamonds & Dreams” field renovation promotion. In partnership with Scotts Miracle-Gro and Major League Baseball, Ripken Baseball and FIELDS will help refurbish twelve baseball fields throughout the country; Chevrolet will select a new field, based on entries at www.chevybaseball.com and local dealerships, once a week from now through July 22.

Ripken Baseball and FIELDS work in tandem to assess each field and create a full renovation and maintenance plan in each selected location. The refurbishment plan focuses on the aesthetics, playability and safety of each field.

With the help of Ripken Baseball and FIELDS, “Diamonds & Dreams” has delivered more than 25 youth field makeovers to communities across the country.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Diamonds & Dreams for a third consecutive year,” said Dan Taylor, Ripken Baseball Project Manager. “We have been overwhelmed by the positive response and excitement everywhere we’ve gone and are excited to work with a dozen more communities in 2012 to deliver safe, professional-quality fields.”

“Chevrolet, Scotts and MLB have recognized the need for better fields for kids to play on and through the Diamonds & Dreams program they are helping kids’ dreams come true,” said Brian Storm, President & CEO of FIELDS. “The communities we have worked with are very appreciative of the gift and the effort that goes in to making their field better. It has been nothing but smiles all around.”

Each of the twelve sites will receive a customized maintenance program for each site, including plans for fertilization, pest control, mowing practices, irrigation practices and infield preparations. Specific projects will include removing existing turf, installing infield materials and new grass, replacing bases, and providing each with a customized field maintenance program.
