Scope of Work:
This multi-purpose ability field is a rubberized asphalt surface for adaptive sports, the first of its kind on the East Coast. The Kennedy Krieger Institute is internationally recognized for its care, research, and education pertaining to individuals with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, and musculoskeletal system. The field was designed for their Physically Challenged Sports Program, which provides therapeutic sports and recreational programs for children with varying degrees of physical abilities. Softball, basketball, and tennis can be played on the wheelchair-accessible surface.
Construction on the project included excavation, aggregate base, concrete & asphalt pavements, rubber surfacing, dugouts, field fencing, backstop, foul poles, bleachers, the scoreboard, and bio-retention basins with landscape plantings.
